TRIP ITINERARY:
Day 1: CUSCO – LLACTAPATA We will pick you up in the early morning from your hotel and take you in one of our privately owned vehicles to the start of the trail. The first day will not be extremely strenuous, hiking along the relatively flat land along the URUBAMBA river. We will appreciate the flora and fauna of the area and the huge glaciers in the distance. In the afternoon, we will arrive at our camp where we will also visit the archaeological center of LLACTAPATA.

Day 2: LLACTAPATA – LLULLUCHAPAMPA After breakfast, we will ascend for about two hours to the semi-tropical valley of the HUAYLLABAMBA village, the last village along the Inca Trail. There, we will rest and have lunch. After lunch, we will begin our ascent. This section of the trail is known as the highest forest in the world because it is covered with vegetation and a huge variety of trees. We will arrive at our campsite that afternoon.

Day 3: LLULLUCHAPAMPA - CHAQUICOCHA After breakfast we will continue ascending towards WARMIWAÑUSCCA pass. To reach the pass, you will trek across typical Andean terrain, covered with ichu (straw) and gaze at glacial mountains. After two hours of ascending, we will reach the highest pass, where we will observe the beauty of the valleys below. If we are lucky, we will see the condors passing above our heads and pass among the thick clouds. After a rest, we will descend to another Incan site, PACAYMAYU. After a brief tour, we will continue to an archaeological center, RUNCURACCAY, strategically located for astronomical observations. Afterwards, we will arrive to a second pass where we will observe lagoons and gaze into the valley. Finally, we will stop at the archaeological center, SAYACMARCA where we will spend the night.

Day 4: CHAQUICOCHA – PUENTE RUINAS The forth day offers the perfectly-preserved stones that the Incans walked on. These trails are complete with Incan stairways, tunnels, and observatories, including a large variety of flora and fauna. We will reach the third pass that offers the archaeological center of PHUYUPATAMARCA. From there, we will continue to descend to WIÑAYWANA (young eternal). After stopping for lunch, we will reach the sun gate and for the first time, you will set sight on the beautiful citadel of MACHUPICCHU. After resting, we will descend towards MACHUPICCHU and take in your first up-close views of the city. From there, we will take the bus to AGUAS CALIENTES where we will spend the night.

Day 5: MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO We will take the first offered bus (6:00 a.m.) toward the citadel of MACHUPICCHU for a thorough three-hour guided tour. Afterwards, you will have time to explore by yourself before taking the train back to Cusco.
